Modi Champions Swadeshi Campaign

Modi used the occasion to reinforce his "vocal for local" initiative, urging Indians to support domestically produced goods. "We will buy only those things that are made by Indians. We need to become vocal for local", he declared, calling for political parties to set aside differences and unite behind the "swadeshi" movement. According to the Times of India, Modi made an earnest appeal to the business community, stating, "When the world is going through such an atmosphere of instability, we too should sell only indigenous goods. This resolve will also be a true service to the nation". He described this commitment as "a great tribute to Mahatma Gandhi."
